Taste of Gullah Geechee
Lets kickoff Black History Month with a celebration of Gullah culture! Taste of Gullah Geechee is an event based on the culture of the two founding sisters Emma’ Cromedy and Sameka Jenkins. The dishes are inspired by the African roots of the people in the Gullah Geechee region. The inspiration for Taste of Gullah Geechee comes from a desire to share the culture from their childhood with a focus on the foods they grew up eating.
Gullah dishes often include rice, okra, seafood, and any meats that weren’t desired or passed on, that they made into a delicacy. They often made something out of nothing. When you come to Taste of Gullah Geechee you will sample foods and hand crafted cocktails from these wonderful participants:
Elegant Treats Bakery
Party Thyme Catering
Family Ties Soul Food and Catering
Cast Iron Food Truck and Catering
Bengi What You Cook
Three Beats Sugar Treats, LLC
Lew’s Heavenly Treats LLC
Miss Charlotte Gullah Catering
Eggs-zactly Specialty Services, LLC
And of course your hostesses - Carolima’s Lowcountry Cuisine
Your ticket price includes food sampling from every chef, 2 mixologists, music from DJ Eddie Wain and a live singing performance by the Beauford Singers. This will be an experience like no other. Be sure to get your tickets early. We will see you there!
