Stay Ready!

Being an entrepreneur is one of the toughest careers out there. Most people see the glamour of being your own "Boss" but there's so much more to owning your own business. Most people couldn't handle the stress of not having a guaranteed paycheck every week or bi-monthly. There are times where business might be slow and you can't even afford to pay yourself. Oh, the stories we could tell. LOL. 

It takes a special individual to be able to go after what you want. I mean, to have that initiative to seize an opportunity is actually a gift. Well, let me tell y'all, my sister 'Emma has it!  Just recently she secured an opportunity for Carolima's Dessert Boutique to set up at the IAAM Opening Ceremony. Everything moved so fast. She called on our network to secure our permit and baked more than 300 desserts in less than 3 days. It was a struggle and she pulled it off! 

We SOLD OUT of everything!  The crowd was supportive and everyone enjoyed our made from scratch southern desserts. We had our famous Charleston Chewies, Red Velvet Cake Slices, Apple Bread Pudding w/ a Bourbon Caramel Glaze and Red Velvet Cheesecake Brownies. Our Passion Fruit Lemonade was a huge hit also. It was a refreshing drink with the warm weather. We shared the arena with some fantastic food trucks including Mazyck's Grill, FAB Sliders and The Main Course.  

Overall it was a historic event and I'm proud to say we were a part of it. Whether you're an entrepreneur or a full time employee, always be prepared to go after what you want. Most opportunities have to be sought after. Very few will just fall into your lap. In other words, stay ready so you don't have to get ready!
