Carolima’s was established as an outlet for the joy of cooking and entertaining by Lowcountry native Sameka Jenkins. She grew up in Mt. Pleasant where her family often prepared meals derived from their Gullah culture. When she introduced her friends to these divine meals they enjoyed the Charleston Red Rice and Lowcountry Shrimp and Grits that Charleston is famous for offering. While entertaining friends, Sameka discovered a passion for preparing great food and watching others enjoy her dishes. She began cooking in college for her roommates and from there it grew into requests to cater large dinner and birthday parties. For Sameka, cooking is very therapeutic and she is most relaxed when in the kitchen trying new recipes and preparing her favor
ite dishes. She takes great pride in personally preparing everything with the love required to make food taste great.
Preparing and maintaining the integrity of great food requires organization, attention to detail and a love for what you’re doing. Sameka enjoys watching others enjoy her wonderfully prepared dishes.
As Creative Director, Rethmiriam Barr is fulfilling her passion for creativity. She is the mastermind behind our event planning and set up. Rethmiriam uses her creativity to create the ambiance our clients envision.
